I may be a little late to the party here but I’ve been a little busy building this website over the last two years and kind of missed all the build-up to what is now a huge market – Korean Skin Care.  So, what is it?  What makes it different than the kind of skin care we are used to here in America?

The Korean Skin Care Routine is all about prevention. Sunscreen is never overlooked. It is one of the most important elements in this routine. Covering flaws is not an option. To maintain authentically flawless skin, the process starts at a very early age and great lengths are taken to ensure the finest quality of product and the most effective way to deliver the product into the skin. This includes a layering process, sometimes involving more than 10 – 12 products to create the perfect skincare routine. The following is a summary of the 10 step Korean Skin Care Routine:

(Many of these products costs less if you click through these links)

1. Cleansing Oil – removes sebum and dirt

2. Cleansing Foam – water-based cleanser removes make-up and any remaining oil and dirt

3. Toner – PH balance and hydrate

4. Exfoliator – how often and which type can vary depending on your skin type

5. Essences – hydrates, PH balance, prepares skin for moisture retention

6. Serums/Ampoules –  light moisturizer with specific targets for your skin’s needs

7. Mask – the type, again, depends on your need; hydrating, purifying, etc.

8. Moisturizer! – no matter your skin type, you need this

9. Eye Cream

10. Sunscreen – never go without it (except at night)

Now that you know the steps, you can, of course, use the cosmetic line of your choice in lieu of specifically Korean products but to have the best results you will want to use the best products that you can afford. How do you choose?  Well, that’s where I can help. Take my skin care quiz to find your skin type and follow that by completing the products questionnaire. I have done all the research for you. You will still have quite a few choices (depending on your requests) but it is a narrower selection.
